The match will be played today at 10:30 PM (ET) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

Novak Djokovic was extraordinary in 2023 winning the Australian Open, Roland Garros and the US Open. Now, the legend has extended the record for most Grand Slams won in tennis to 24, leaving Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer far behind. This year, the legend looks unstoppable trying to surpass the overall record held by Margaret Court.

Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner has become the biggest threat for Djokovic in recent months. Though Carlos Alcaraz took away Wimbledon from the Serbian, the Italian star has been very dangerous by beating Nole at the ATP Finals in Turin and then at the Davis Cup. He hasn’t lost a set in Australia.

When will Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner be played?

Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner will play today, January 25, at 10:30 PM (ET). The victor of the match will face the winner of the other semifinal between Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev.

The Australian Open 2024 is in full swing ahead of Thursday's semi-finals at Melbourne Park. Coco Gauff faces Aryna Sabalenka in a rematch of the U.S. Open final, before Novak Djokovic takes on Jannick Sinner in the men's singles.

Defending champions Djokovic and Sabalenka remain in with a shot at going back-to-back, and you wouldn't put it past either of them. Sabalenka, however, will have to do things the hard way on Day 12, as Gauff beat her in last year's U.S. Open showdown.

Whoever comes out on top will compete for the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup with either China's superstar-in-the-making Zheng Qinwen, or world No.93 Dayana Yastremska, who sensationally came through qualifying. She's now just two matches away from becoming only the second qualifier to win a Grand Slam title after Emma Raducanu.

On Day 13, Djokovic meet world No.4 Jannik Sinner – one of the game's most rapidly rising stars – in his semi, before No.3 seed Daniil Medvedev gets the measure of fellow man-mountain Alexander Zverev.

Men’s and Women’s Singles schedule

Semi-finals — Thursday, Jan. 25 (women), and Friday, Jan. 26 (men)

Finals — Saturday, Jan. 27 (women), and Sunday, Jan. 28 (men)

Who are the defending champions?

Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka are the defending Australian Open champions. Both are through to this year's semi-finals.

What is the surface at the Australian Open?

The Australian Open is played on cushion acrylic hard courts prepared by Greenset Worldwide. There are a total of 39 courts in total at Melbourne Park: 33 hard courts and six clay courts.

Now into week two of the 2024 Australian Open. Getting to the quarter-finals here is no mean feat, but there's not a player among the final 16 who will be satisfied with an exit at this stage.

On the men's side it's all about who can break Novak Djokovic's grip on the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup. With ten Australian Open titles to his name so far, the champion and world No.1 will fancy his chances of notching up a scarcely believable 25th major championship at Melbourne Park.

It turns out that Djokovic is human after all – he suffered his first defeat on Aussie soil in over five years when he lost in the United Cup at the start of the month, and dropped a set in each of his first two matches here. But then he came roaring back with two straight set victories followed by a fairly comfortable win over Taylor Fritz to make the semis.

Daniil Medvedev and Novak's semi-final opponent Jannik Sinner are the men mostly likely to stop him, and Alexander Zverev will be riding high after his convincing win over Carlos Alcaraz. But the GOAT is looking stronger and stronger with every match that goes by.

The first week in Melbourne saw an extraordinary 25 casualties among the seeds on the women's side – with world no. 1 Iga Swiatek among them. Reigning champion Aryna Sabalenka is looking like the player most likely to go all the way again, although US prodigy Coco Gauff may have something to say about that in what's set to be an unmissable semi-final on Thursday.

There's a feeling that China's Zheng Qinwen is really coming of age in the women's game and is now the only seed in the other side of the draw. An unseeded player hasn't won a Grand Slam since it happened twice in 2017, but the form of Dayana Yastremska means it could well happen again here.

Djokovic's title defense was off to a shaky start as he was tested by Dino Prizmic in the first round, but prevailed in four sets in the end. He needed four sets to get past Alexei Popyrin in the second round as well.

Things fell into place for the World No. 1 in the next couple of rounds as he settled into the tournament. He scored straight sets wins over 30th seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry and 20th seed Adrian Mannarino to make the last eight here once again.

Djokovic faced 12th seed Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals and moved past him in four sets to reach the semifinals for the 11th time. He's also on a 33-match winning streak at the Australian Open, with his previous defeat coming back in 2018 at the hands of Hyeon Chung in the fourth round.

Sinner remains the only player to have not lost a set during the tournament so far. His path to the semifinals included wins over Botic van de Zandschulp, Jesper de Jong, Sebastian Baez, Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev. The Italian has now reached his second Major semifinal and first in Melbourne.

Djokovic leads Sinner 4-2 in the head-to-head, but the latter won their most recent encounter at last year's Davis Cup Finals. The 22-year old was also the only player to defeat the Serb twice last year, with his other victory coming in the group stage of the ATP Finals.

The first semi-finals match will be held between Djokovic and Sinner at Rod Laver Arena. As per the Australian Open stats, Djokovic ranks second in the Aces category on the table. He has played five matches with 69 Aces. In the category “break points won leaders”, Djokovic ranks third with five matches and 25 points and Sinner ranks fourth with six matches and 25 points.

It is going to be interesting to witness the Australian Open Tennis Tournament Men’s Singles Semi-finals 2024 between them. Friday’s match will decide who will be going ahead to win the title of Grand Slam in the Australian Open Tennis Tournament.

The world no.1 has moved into the last four ominously as he guns for an incredible 11th title at Melbourne Park, but he meets an up-and-coming star who has given him trouble in recent matches. It hasn't been Djokovic's cleanest path to the last four of the Australian Open, dropping sets in three of his matches, but it's going to take a mighty performance to dethrone the tournament's 10-time winning king.
